The notion of ‘festival of lights’ missing crackers might be startling for you with fledgling wishes and plans for the upcoming Diwali to agree. From the early traditions, firecrackers have been the soul of the most vibrant and powerful festival, Diwali and most of us cannot think of rejoicing it without lighting at least one sparkler. But out there, you must be hearing millions of voices echoing the slogan of a ‘Green Diwali!’ So what is a Green Diwali and why is the hype for the same increasing at an alarming rate? Rather than just knowing that it is for the best, we, at, the JP International School, believe that you should know the real reasons behind it and you will find yourself as a part of the crowd in no time.
The reasons are right in front of us and it’s high time we devote some good attention to it. You might be wondering how parents and grandparents possessed the freedom of cherishing crackers to the fullest and why it has to be this way now. But you need to see that the earth that we live in today was much different back then. The planet was much greener, skies were clearer, and the lives of people got the value that they deserved. But the scenario has changed significantly now, with the alarming increase in air pollution and noise pollution, and toxins and chemicals leading to fatal threats to almost every species on earth.
Fire-crackers are definitely attractive and fun but you need to know that they are one of the major sources of air pollution and impose a massive impact on the delicate environment around us. Air pollution and toxins are the uproars that are slowly and slowly snatching away smiles from all of us.
Did you know that approximately ten to thirty thousand people suffering from severe respiratory issues end up losing their lives annually!!!
A recent survey says that firecrackers are topping the percentage of pollution emitted by vehicles and the smoke they emit is comparably more toxic. Crackers do not only cause air pollution but are also responsible for noise hazards. The piercing sounds they create often scare your furry friends and you can relate to it well if you are a pet lover. Not only this but have you imagined how much disturbance does the firecrackers cause to patients suffering from serious health conditions?
We, the humans, are social animals and a part of a larger community, where it is our responsibility to think about each other’s concerns and also compromise for other’s safety and happiness, if and when required.
So as a new age survivor, the wisest option you got is to be the twenty-first-century smart kid with an ‘eco-friendly mindset.’ If you have been looking for an opportunity to show your admiration to mother earth, this would be a golden one and undoubtedly the best gift you can give to the planet and mankind.
Planet earth needs serious attention from us. And since, children are considered to be much closer to nature than adults are, as the stars of tomorrow, it is you, the kids, who can indeed be the first to take a step to start the divine deed of celebrating an eco-friendly Diwali.
We say, of course, yes!! And, why not! When you invest in such a noble deed, you are bound to feel great anyway and the fun will automatically follow. But other than that, you have plenty of things to celebrate your Diwali which can be more fun than even firecrackers.
Have you ever felt the joy of donating to a needy? Well, it is incomparable. Rather than lighting firecrackers this time, try out lighting some smiles. ‘Diwali is a festival of giving,’ so why not start by giving some warm clothes, some sweets to those who are struggling for these basic necessities out there. Cherish the pleasure of giving gifts to the poor and the needy.
You would agree that there is nothing like a quality time, well-spend with family and the near and dear ones. Owing to your studies and other activities you stay engaged in, you probably stay busy the rest of the days. Diwali is the time when you can enjoy some great time with your family enjoying some lip-smacking dishes in a pleasant evening.
Light earthen diyas and sky lanterns and candles with your family and give your home a heavenly look. Other than that you can also volunteer for an Ngo in the upcoming Diwali. If you haven’t done that before, it will be an entirely new experience.
We, at JPIS, believe that it is the right mindset that can actually make all the difference. If you really wish to contribute to the well-being of the society and the environment, you have to get over the wrongs that we are doing and instead try to make the smallest of changes that we can. JP International, a top-ranked CBSE School in Noida, treasures a similar mission and wish to prepare our pupils with a futuristic mindset with which they can succeed in all spheres of life.
