JPIS is committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is dedicated to fostering sustainable habits within the school and the community. To support this mission, the school scheduled a student community collaboration aimed at the SDGs on July 13, 2024, for all students. The day was meticulously planned with various indoor and outdoor activities for grades I to VIII, including Inter-House Chess, Carom, Badminton, Skating, music competitions, and other hands-on experiences.
On this occasion, the JPIS student community, along with teacher mentors, worked on the theme ‘Sarv Hitay Sarv Sukhay,’ wherein they adopted a holistic approach towards society with the message "Make our Earth Healthier with Paper Bags and Discourage Plastic Bag Use." To support this goal, students prepared paper bags, posters, and banners themselves to spread awareness.
In the second half of the day, a team of students, along with their mentors, visited the market areas in the vicinity of the school campus and informed people about the usefulness of paper bags and the harmful effects of plastic bags. They even distributed the handmade bags to the vendors and shoppers around to support SDGs 12 and 13.
Additionally, another team planned a visit to care for and tend to street animals. They visited Smart Century Imaliya Village in Greater Noida, where they spent time learning to care for these creatures. They fed bread, chapatis, boiled eggs, and green vegetables to the sheltered animals.
Overall, the aim 'Sarv Hitay Sarv Sukhay' was a huge success, advancing the mission of the SDGs. The school principal appreciated the students' and teachers' efforts and initiatives, highlighting their commitment to sustainable development.
